READING TRANSPORT STRATEGY
Client: Reading Council
Team: In association with Stantec and Latcham Ltd.
Location: Reading. UK
For over a decade, we have collaborated as part of a dedicated team to develop and implement Reading's comprehensive transport network strategy. Our work involved setting out clear transport priorities and creating detailed delivery plans to enhance the efficiency, accessibility, and sustainability of the town's transport infrastructure. This long-term project required a deep understanding of local needs, challenges, and opportunities to ensure the strategy was forward-thinking and practical.
As part of this effort, we created transport framework diagrams that articulate a future vision for an expanded and interconnected transport network that integrates all modes of transportation, including walking, cycling, public transit, and vehicular traffic. These diagrams serve as a visual representation of how different transport modes can work together seamlessly to provide a cohesive and efficient transport experience for all users.
Additionally, we developed concept designs for new public spaces and transport interchanges within the town centre, as part of a broader public realm strategy. These designs aimed to improve not only the functionality and accessibility of transport interchanges but also to enhance the overall urban environment by creating vibrant, user-friendly public spaces. By prioritizing connectivity, safety, and aesthetic appeal, our designs contribute to a more dynamic and welcoming town center that supports both local residents and visitors.
